Leaflets Three Video

You may know that poison ivy can give you an itchy rash, but did you also know that only humans are allergic to it, or that no two poison ivy leaves are exactly alike?  In this lecture and demonstration, led by acclaimed local children’s book illustrator, Robin Brickman, audience members will learn everything they didn’t know about poison ivy.  In addition, Robin will discuss her artistic process and how she creates the detailed collages for the illustrations in her books. Over the course of her career, she developed a unique method of illustrating children’s books by painting, cutting, and hand sculpting paper into three-dimensional art. After the presentation, audience members will get to try their hand at creating small pieces like those Robin uses in her work. Water Street Books will be selling Robin’s books at the program.

Robin Brickman’s books and paintings have won many awards. In addition to her publishing career, gallery shows and private commissions, Robin presents workshops that are creative and scientifically accurate. Robin has lived in Williamstown since 1985.
